It is only day two of the whole eating once a day thing, and Im not really eating once a day. I will have to modify this whole thing in to a two a day program. The reason being:

1. I work realy weird hours
2. I have to eat at a chow hall with set hours

So here is my plan.

1100 wake up
1130 gym
1400 get to work
1930 eat first meal
2330 second meal
0300 go to bed

So what do I get with this, only a 5 hour eating window which means I go 19 hours with out food. That is a long time and if anything that should start my metabolism slowing down if that is what realy happens.

I guess we will find out...

So I come to work and my boss is reading a muscle magazine. I mention how
I skipped breakfast and he starts to go in to how her just read that skipping meals is terrible for you and so on. Then a couple of other guys stop by which I have to give a briefing to and they are like yeah.. it's totally fact that not eating a bunch of times a day will slow down your metabolism. I couldn't argue with them because its a "fact".

 So I have made a little science experiment with my boss. I am going to go a whole 30 days only eating one main meal per day with only a few snacks in a 5 hour feeding window. He says I will gain weight. Only time will tell. So for some references.

In this study, published in the journal Medical Hypothesis in March of 2006, Dr. Laub along with two other physicians underwent their version of and intermittent fast. The three of them have since May 2003 been on a version of the IF in which they consume about 20-50 percent of their estimated daily energy requirements on the fast day and eat whatever they want on the non-fast days.

Since starting their regimen they have

observed health benefits starting in as little as two weeks, in insulin resistance, asthma, seasonal allergies, infectious diseases of viral, bacterial and fungal origin (viral URI, recurrent bacterial tonsillitis, chronic sinusitis, periodontal disease), autoimmune disorder (rheumatoid arthritis), osteoarthritis, symptoms due to CNS inflammatory lesions (Tourette’s, Meniere’s) cardiac arrhythmias (PVCs, atrial fibrillation), menopause related hot flashes.

In their paper these researchers discuss a 1957 paper from the Spanish medical literature.

…the subjects were eating, on alternate days, either 900 calories or 2300 calories, averaging 1600, and that body weight was maintained. Thus they consumed either 56% or 144% of daily caloric requirement. The subjects were in a residence for old people, and all were in perfect health and over 65. Over three years, there were 6 deaths among 60 study subjects and 13 deaths among 60 ad lib-fed controls, non-significant difference. Study subjects were in hospital 123 days, controls 219, highly significant difference. We believe widespread use of this pattern of eating could impact influenza epidemics and other communicable diseases by improving resistance to infection. In addition to the health effects, this pattern of eating has proven to be a good method of weight control, and we are continuing to study the process in conjunction with the NIH.

Here is a nice study on Calorie restriction (CR) and alternate-day fasting (ADF)(as in eat one day and not the other)

But for good measure here is blog post with references on why eating one meal a day may not be the way to go.

 

Well lets see how it goes and who knows I may not be able to handle this and if so I will switch to a one day one one day off type thing.

Ok, Ok,

 I know when you are hurt you are supposed to go to the Physical Therapist and do the rehab and what not. But when you go to a PT and he is telling you to how to do squats and his form suck it takes your faith out of the whole thing.

 True I listened to him a bit and I am starting to fell better. I haven't realy been doing much activity exept a lot of walking. The PT said to kkep moving because it will help the swelling go down. I don't even really notice anything is wrong with my knee until I bend it at it's max range. And I pushed that a little today with some full Snatches for my work out. It was fun!

 

the chick in the video is way stronger than me. Because its been awhile I was only doing 85lbs less than half of what she does

you have to love a guy that says get your fats. This is a good explanation of how food is used in animals. All the people at my work think I am crazy when I say I love eating sat fat.

If there is one thing I hate, it is junk science. I understand scientist need to eat and they do that by doing studies that get them paid or using the data to write books. And the only way to get paid by righting books is to write one people will buy! I guess I almost look at science as in the old days when people did experiment to further understanding or figure out how things worked. Not a way to push an agenda.

Well here is a good post on debunking the china study. I am sure most of my friends have never read it but it is an anti animal protein book that many vegetarians use as there proof to why meat is bad.
